Laboratory Animal Facilities at Trudeau Institute are USDA Registered, AAALAC International Accredited, and have an Animal Welfare Assurance on file with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW).

Our facilities are regularly inspected by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Experienced Laboratory Animal Care Technicians, certified through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), provide husbandry and colony management for our research animal models.   The Animal Facilities at Trudeau house ABSL1-3 animal models, using sophisticated barrier and containment facilities, and practices, to ensure strict biosecurity and animal health maintenance.

Our Mouse Production Screening Service (MPSS) manages mouse breeding at the Institute.  MPSS staff work closely with scientists to develop accurate breeding programs, provide breeding services, and maintains extensive computerized animal inventories.

The Laboratory Animal Facilities processes all animal acquisitions from approved commercial vendors, provides all animal husbandry support, and assists scientists with animal model development.
