Atsuo Kuki, Ph.D.
Dr. Kuki joins the Trudeau Institute as President and Director bringing a passion for transformational leadership in science and technology. Previously he was the Chief Technology Officer of the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, in Maryland. Dr. Kuki has been engaged in Research & Development mission leadership and inaugural leadership roles for over 20 years. He has worked in leadership and executive teams across the entrepreneurial biotech sector, at Alanex/Agouron Pharmaceuticals in San Diego, as founding leader of an advanced technology department in drug discovery, then into the large pharmaceutical industry sector, via acquisition into Pfizer Global Research and Development, then into the federal government contracting sector, at the Frederick National Laboratory, near Bethesda, Maryland/Washington, DC area. This diverse cross-disciplinary and cross-sector experience enhances the range of operating models being assessed for the future of innovative scientific R&D at the Trudeau Institute.
Dr. Kuki has received degrees from Yale University (B.S. Chemistry), from Stanford University (Ph.D. Biophysical and Physical Chemistry), and pursued protein biophysics with an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Illinois. He is a recipient of the Pfizer Global R&D Achievement Award for multi-site and multi-country technology diplomacy and leadership.
