Immunity to persistent infections.

The gamma-herpesviruses are viruses that establish a life-long infection in greater than 90% of the human population and are associated with the development of a variety of malignancies. We are studying a mouse model to determine how the virus evades the immune system of the host to establish a persistent infection, and whether we can boost immunity to prevent or control infection.
