Frances has a a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology and Immunology from Duke University. She was a Predoctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Duke University and while there earned honors as a Recipient of The Norman Francis Conant Research Award in 1991.
Frances did Postdoctoral work at Duke University as well as at DNAX Research Institute, in the laboratory of Dr. Maureen Howard.
Frances joined Trudeau as an assistant member in 1997 and was promoted to an associate member in 2001 and a full member in 2006. In 2008, Frances joined the University of Rochester, Division of Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology as a Professor. She continues at the Trudeau Institute as an Adjunct Faculty Member.
