STEVE SMILEY, PH.D.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut and then received a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Harvard University. 

Before joining Trudeau Institute in 2000, he worked at Millennium BioTherapeutics and LeukoSite. Steve’s laboratory studies how and why blood clotting pathways are activated during infection, inflammation and sepsis.

Steve’s laboratory is also working to develop improved vaccines for bacterial pneumonias, including pneumonic plague.

2. Immune defense against pneumonia and pneumonic plague.
