Markus Mohrs received his Ph.D. in 1998 from the University of Freiburg, Germany for studies carried out at the Max-Planck-Institute for Immunobiology, Freiburg, Germany. During his research on the role of cytokines in infectious diseases he generated IL-4R alpha knockout mice in the laboratory of Georges Köhler.
He moved on to do postdoctoral work as an Associate Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the Departments of Medicine and Microbiology/Immunology at the University of California, San Francisco, CA, from 1998-2002.
In the laboratory of Richard M. Locksley, Markus generated cytokine reporter mice that allow visualization of cytokine expressing cells in vivo in response to pathogenic challenges.
Markus joined Trudeau Institute in Spring 2002 as an Assistant Member. Since Spring 2007 he is an Associate Member.
The 2010 Woods Hole Immunoparasitology (WHIP) Meeting
Markus is responsible for organizing the 14th Woods Hole Immunoparasitology (WHIP) meeting along with Co-organizer, Fabienne Tacchini-Cottier, Ph.D.
This meeting is unique because the majority of presentations are given by students and postdocs and invited keynote speakers complement the program. Moreover, the presence of many principal investigators (PI) throughout the meeting gives the conference attendees ample opportunity to interact in the wonderful atmosphere provided by the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole on Cape Cod.
Keynote speakers are:
Monday, April 26, 2010
Caetano Reis e Sousa, Ph.D. Immunobiology Laboratory London Research Institute London, UK
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Alan Aderem, Ph.D. Director Institute for Systems Biology Seattle, WA, USA
